Previous News12.07.2007 - Terrence Marks:So, why do our comics update on Sunday now instead of Friday? I work weekends, so Thursday is my first day off in the week, and it's when we run most of our errands. As a result, we're adjusting the schedule a bit. You get the same comics. We get a bit more time together. Everybody wins. See you Sunday!12.05.2007 - Terrence Marks:December is a time of sharing. If you send us something, you can get two weeks at NamirDeiter.net, our special site full of bonus content, in exchange. Now, what kind of things are we talking about?Fan art, homemade crafty goodies, zines, minicomics (yours or someone elses - but preferably yours), music (again, yours or whatever songs you'd like to share - several different artists, 2-4 songs each, with a track listing, please), mini-zines, or something similar that you'd like to share.
The terms?
We reserve the right to reject any entry. If you send us a poem like "Roses are red, violets are blue. Your comics aren't very good", then you get nothing. If you mail us a dirty sock, you get nothing and you wasted good money on postage.Just make sure it's be postmarked by December 31. The post office might not be open that day, so don't wait until the last minute.
If you have any questions or are just wondering what kind of music we might like, don't hesitate to email us.
12.01.2007 - Terrence Marks:We didn't quite make the goal this month. Comics are going back to their regular schedule (instead of the bonus schedule they've been on for most of the last year). Thank you, everyone who donated - we appreciate you continued patronage. As a small token of gratitude, Namir Deiter will update this weekend only, to wrap this arc up - thank you to everyone for following it as long as it's gone on. Also, there's a new ND Chat up at NamirDeiter.net, if you want to hear us talk about things.11.26.2007 - Isabel Marks:It's been a slow last few weeks around here- comic wise, that is. My real life has been quite sick and stressful... as some of you know I've had a cold/cough/ now infection that I've been dealing with for the past month. No. I don't know what it is other than some sort of Chronic Bronchitis turned infection. I'm on antibiotics and very slowly getting better.Being sick has greatly slowed down our sending out of donor gifts/ wallpaper art to those of you who deserve it for the past two months. We're very sorry- but we don't want to get you all sick... granted Terrence could have sent them out, if he had the time, and quite honestly I'm the one who, for the most part, know what is supposed to go where and where everything is. So we're aiming for... sometime in the future. Hopefully before Christmas, mail system permitting.
Thirdly, my grandmother has been very ill lately, but recently things have turned worse. I was unable to visit her when my family went out to see her due to this infection of mine, but if something were to happen I would have to simply up and leave town, comic buffer or not. As it is, I've been quite stressed due to this and being sick (along with trying to keep up with my other duties in life), leaving me with little time. Comic updating times have been quite sporadic for the last few months and as sorry as I am that it keeps happening, there is little I can do. All I ask is that you bear through this please... some days I just can't do it. I would love to say "things will get better soon" but considering I've been sick literally all Fall with one cold or another, I just don't know what to say.
On that note, since nothing has been going on here in the world of comics, I thought I would mention a few things here that others are doing...
First off, there is a Namir Deiter reference in the latest Plugged Nickel comic. See if you can find it (and you tell me if it's not proper karma coming back at him).
After many wonderful years on and off line, The Adventures of Fifine is coming to an end. It's been a beautiful ride, Henbe, and it will be missed. If you're not reading it already, definitely consider it.
Bill Holbrook is going to be at Further Confusion in a couple of months in San Jose. We wish we could head over and say hello, but it's a good five hour drive for us, so all of you going should say hi to him for us (and because if we went all the way to San Jose for a convention and not to visit my family up there, I'd be in serious trouble with my mother).
You know, if web comics were anything like Ninja Warrior, Bill would definitely deserve a nickname, like "Mr. Web Comic". Except without being a hot dog vendor (not to say there's anything wrong with being a hot dog vendor).
This very quickly turned into a rambly blog entry... I suppose my .net blog is the one of the reasons the news doesn't get updated as much anymore... I do all my rambling there.
So...enjoy the leftovers if you still have any and all the Holiday sales. I will continue trying to get better, then heading over to the Dojo for my daily crying fest (for those of you not in the know, which is... all of you, I've been getting a little... antsy, over the character list for the new Super Smash Bros. game. We all have our unhealthy hobbies. And this is my most healthy one.
Have a good week, folks. Hopefully you'll get another news update like this before the year is up!
You don't want to know how many hours my Wii has logged down for Star Fox 64 game time.
11.23.2007 - Terrence Marks:Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Comics are delayed slightly - Isabel has a sinus infection, which makes bending over the drawing board very uncomfortable. She's taking today off, but will make the comics up as soon as she can.11.17.2007 - Terrence Marks:Isabel's grandmother is very sick. We don't have much in the way of details, but there's a decent chance we'll be going to be out of town some time in the next few days, with short notice.11.12.2007 - Isabel Marks:It's been quite a week here at the NDU... for starters, everything is back up to date... thank you for your patience! The bonus story for namirdeiter.net's main page comic will be "Sofia and Paul", a story arc that goes a bit more into what happened to lead to the events of You Say it First's Chapter 65, Sofia's trip. There will be four of those comic updates (Monday through Thursday) this week to make up for last week's lack of namirdeiter.net comics. Some of you more astute namirdeiter.net readers (and listeners of our sort-of weekly, sort-of podcast) may recall that I mentioned that this story line was going to be the bonus comic in the NDU Library exclusive to only people who donated in April 2007 instead of the next chapter of Elemental Story (a donor-only exclusive comic). Well... it's kind of a long story- but seeing as I rarely update my news anymore... I'll go about it:
As some of you have noticed (from the crazy updates and lack there of) I've been really sick... on and off for the past month and a half- I get sick, then a few days later by the time I catch my breath, I get sick again (I have seen a doctor, who just gave me some over the counter stuff), which has made drawing difficult... but writing has been all but easy. There were some days I would spend the day starring at a blank computer screen, trying to write, coughing my lungs out. And with Terrence working very hard with work things, I was pretty much left to try and push myself to write.
A few days ago I got a HUGE flood of writing done... unfortunately nothing that was web-comic related or .net's main page related. One of those stories deals with characters all you free-site only people would have no idea about (so I won't go into it here... although those of you over at .net who read my blog know what I'm talking about) and some major re-write work to that ill-fated Elemental Story chapter... I basically re-wrote the ending and added four pages to it. I was very happy with all the writing I got done- but at the time I needed .net daily content- not bonus book stuffs.
I had been working on "Sofia and Paul" behind the scenes on and off for months (I try not to touch comics I'm giving to people when I'm sick) but after reading it again I turned to Terrence and said "This story arc would fit better as main content site. I wish I could use that Elemental Story chapter for the April bonus book", to which my darling husband replied, "Um... dear- that WAS the original April bonus book- you changed it after you decided you didn't like its ending". Well, doink!
This works out perfectly for me because I have writers block for .net content at the moment, but have the ES scripts and S&P written... that way everyone more or less gets what I said they were going to get- and the ES story will have four bonus pages- hooray, right? I really do hope so... once again, thank you everyone for your patience in all this- this past year was a very bad one for me as Terrence's work schedule changed so much to the point where I'm doing 90%-95% of the daily writing and coloring and such- something that was once 50/50. I'm still trying to get used to it, really I am!
Don't forget the sale listed above the comic!
