Previous News09.20.2004 - Isabel Marks:Hi everyone... I hope you all are having a good September- ours has certainly been interesting...Every week it seems a new problem arises with our car. It's running again, but currently is lacking a muffler and is leaking oil- but only a little. This should be eradicated soon (or at least, after Terrence's paycheck). To celebrate Terrence's birthday, we went out to the L. A. County fair... it was nice, but the carny folk befuddled us out of $15. Grr. We had a good time though, and Terrence got a deep fried Snickers bar.
This weekend Terrence made a banner stand for us to use at Ani-Magic (I'm already having nightmares about getting books in time for this convention)- he's so talented with PVC pipes- we'll be sure to take a picture of it soon.
I still have so much left to do for this convention... and it seems I'm getting some kind of bug that's making me feel lightheaded- just enough for me to feel bad about not working on things, but enough to make me lose my concentration more often than not. ><
Don't forget about the donation drive for the month- I brought it down to $200, so if you enjoy the five day a week updates, please donate today!
09.07.2004 - Isabel Marks:Yes, it's about time I updated the news around here... Anime Vegas itself went well- the short time we were there. It was just everything else that didn't go well... at all. The convention itself was the best con I have ever gone to.Now onto YSiF related news... remember folks, Kimberly and Brisbane are going to be doing a lot more work in the month of September, going five days a week and all. Thank you all for donating!
The donation total as been reset for the month, so if you want October to be another busy spell for our fair duo, please donate (I should also mention that the total went up about $100; if only due to the fact that it's going to take a lot more time to work on the extra comics than I first imagined). So, if you're a fan of the new schedule- please think of donating and like I mentioned before, even if we don't make our monthly goal, I won't be taking the comic away- it'll just go back to three days a week. :)
In book related news- I now have You Say it First Book One in my possession! It was even on sale over at Anime Vegas (as it will be over at Ani-Magic this October- which I really need to find someone with a ride who will be willing to hang out with me all Friday- since Terrence can't get off of work again any time soon). The book itself came out great (IMHO) and will be on sale sometime next month (or whenever I get all my other comic books printed- whichever comes first ><).
08.26.2004 - Isabel Marks:You guys are just the greatest. Period. Wow. We made it to our goal and then some!I'm sorry I don't have much more news to report other than making our goal but, wow... that's some news. You people just rock!
I need to start working on the last of this arc and start prodding Terrence to get me some scripts written (it's his turn).
08.24.2004 - Isabel Marks:Wow! What can I say... we're almost half way done with the mini-donation drive to go five days a week this September! Unfortunately there is only a week left, so please help if you can (I'm really sorry for springing this on you all so suddenly, even if we don't quite reach the goal, I'll make sure I have something special for you all- although it might not be as nice as a five day a week update).Today I got the You Say it First Book One proofs in the mail today- they look great! The book is 80 pages, black and white with a ten page bonus story as well as the two page story from the Free Comic Book Day booklet! It will more than likely be on sale some time by the end of September, please keep an eye out for it.
In other news... work on You Say it First Book 0: Conflicting Introductions has, at the least, been poked and prodded a little- which is the most work done with it ever. I'm hoping to get Terrence writing it soon so I can work on it soon because I'd really like this project to be done soon (noticing a trend here??). I hope to have more info on this... one day.. *sniff* *sniff*
08.15.2004 - Isabel Marks:I hope you all like the new site design... basically I used the same one as Namir Deiter's site design... as it was the old one was heavily influenced by it.Hopefully this will be the last one for a while... at the least, the Archive page has been updated to show this recent arc!
It looks(I.E we've paid for the booth) like we'll be hitting Ani-Magic this October 1-3 in Valencia, CA! We'll be located in the Artist Alley (because all we'll have is our own humble stuffs to sell), so if you're in the area or will be- please drop by and say hi!
If you'll look to your left, you'll see the esteemed Ms. Taylor proudly holding this month's donation total... if that number goes up to $200, then for all of September You Say it First will update five days a week! The only way to do that is donate via Paypal... this money will also go into the little things we need to keep the comic going (paper, ink, not to mention the time and so on) and to help fuel our convention funds. If you can't donate, no biggie- I have no intention of taking the comic away because of low donation funds (both my husband and I fully understand how tight our wallets have to be as of late), but if you enjoy the comic and have a buck or two left of your month's mad money, you know what to do with it. :)
08.08.2004 - Isabel Marks:It's been a few weeks since I've last updated the news... sorry about that. Long story short, I spent all of last week raising money to get a few comic books printed up/ working on said comic books/ making art to raise the money for said comic books/ trying to get a web comic buffer done. Well, three out of four ain't bad. The irony is the people who we were going to go through are taking a break from making books for a little... Sorry about the lack of comics last week... on the plus side the You Say it First book 1's bonus content is almost done (and hopefully the people who we are getting our digests printed through won't take a break ^^;;).This current story arc will re-introduce us to Kimberly's "friend" (and we use the term lightly) Emily. If you want to read even more information on her, please check out these story arcs of Unlike Minerva: Emily, You Must Learn All Night Long ,Meanwhile..., No Sleep Blues and A talk.
Yes, that's quite an assignment I have given you all... but hopefully it'll help to tide you all over till the next update. :)
07.27.2004 - Isabel Marks:Well... we're back! Thank you all who came over to our booth to say hi or bought the book (or both!). For all of you who are visiting the site for the first time, welcome! I hope you enjoy!I'm still really, really tiered... got sick while there... expect a report in a few days... but don't expect it too soon... till then, enjoy the comic!
