The image display issue has been fixed; please let us know if it happens again.

For the next week, the RSS feed will probably update intermittently. The comics will be updating on time, however; we hope that you enjoy them.

We've been having some oddness with images and text files not showing up properly. We're looking into it. If it happens to you, please let us know and hit refresh.

Also, we've made the donation goal for April and will be running full tilt in May. The archives have been improved slightly - you can now click on a comic to go to the next one, and the weekly view has the navigation bars on the top and bottom.

Isabel and myself both have Twitter accounts now. Isabel's is friends-locked at the moment, but if you add her, she'll probably add you back.

Hi folks, I can't believe it's almost been a month since I last updated the news... it's been a rough one, from family matters and health issues (my allergies seem to be really bad this month and the medication I'm taking for them isn't helping as much as it used to ><), which makes making and reporting news a rare thing. There really hasn't been too much updates on the sites this month (although I have drawn the new images for the new You Say it First cast page- now for the energy to color them and then update the pages x_X).

There really isn't much to talk about, in real life news that's not depressing, Terrence and myself are finally getting back into Maple Story, a game which he needed a break from. Personally I can't get into any other MMORPGs. It's not the most thrilling game, the graphics are dated, and it can be a little grindy at times, but we've been playing it literally since it got out of beta (I heard about it right after the beta closed, much to my sadness, so I stalked the main page for info) and for all the reasons I mentioned above, I actually prefer it to other types of games. I like the cartoony style, I am honestly kind of weary of 3D. I love not having to really think too hard while playing. And sometimes if we play long enough, I get that surreal feeling like we've been gone from the apartment for a long time and everything feels different (only a couple movies and actually leaving the place for a few days make me feel that way). It's not a game for everyone, a lot of younger people play it, which either causes us to feel old or to act immature (ok, it makes ME act immature ><), but for all that, I enjoy the game. Anyway, despite my rather negative glowing review, it's a fun game. Heck, any game where I can get married to my real life husband again and then kill cake monsters together has to be good on some level.

On the same note, over the last few years, I've gotten a few invites to the online community Gaia Online... when I say a few, I mean probably five or less ever. I just want to mention thanks if you sent one, but it's not really needed, I've been on Gaia for a while now. I don't really go on it anymore- but I poke it every now and again. If you look, it shouldn't be too hard to find me, but I won't post my user name due to hacking paranoia (unfortunately, it was attempted in the past quite a few times), and if you do find me, chances are I won't respond for a while... so, hi if you're on Gaia.

Ok, that's all the almost but not quite news I have... only two more days to sign up for the $4 a month .net subscription, starting next month it'll be $10 for everyone who wants a subscription (of course, for all of you who did subscribe this month, your monthly due will still be just $4 a month). So get in today and save! See you all in April!

Since I last updated, I managed to find an old-school cassette deck, with line-out even. Looks like it used to be part of a really fancy home entertainment system twenty years ago. That's cool. It randomly makes this horrible shrieking noise. That's trash. It records just fine and doesn't damage the tapes, but it sounds like I set it on fire.
This put me in a mood. Not angry. Not upset. Just unpleasable. I wanted to do something, but I knew whatever I did, I wouldn't like it because of the mood I was in. I've got all these old movies I picked up cheap, and I've been thinking of finally reading Kimagure Orange Road - I mean, I've heard good things about it. I might like it. But I wouldn't like it today. I'd just get five minutes in, put it down, and never pick it up again.
So I did taxes instead. I have absolutely nothing entertaining to say about the process, especially Form 1065 (which is intended to cover any kind of partnership, from husband-and-wife team to an international conglomerate - estimated time to fill it out is about 72 hours, if you're lucky). Anyhow, taxes are done.

It's been kind of a busy week for me.

Firstly, after six months of downtime, The Nice's forums have been brought back and upgraded from UBB6 to phpBB3. There was a server crash in October that brought our old forums down, so we've moved to a more stable and maintainable system - and from a collection of thousands of text files to a real database. The old forum is available in read-only mode for private messages (which couldn't be migrated) and anything else we may have missed.

Secondly, the entire archives of Unlike Minerva are back online. For the last few years we only had an edited version up, which didn't include the original pre-restart beginning. Since we've got the tenth anniversary coming up on March 15th, it's only fair to show what it's the anniversary of. This also puts Unlike Minerva and its sequel, You Say it First at over 2000 comics, combined.

Thirdly, we're running Unlike Minerva with commentary, Monday through Friday at UnlikeMinerva.com. It'll be at quintuple-speed, with a new week of comics up every day.

Fourthly, to celebrate the fourth anniversary of NamirDeiter.net, our reward site for donors, we've got a special this month only - subscribe at $4/month for as long as you like, or, if you donate $10, get free online access to one of our past bonus books.

Fifthly, we've got a public tour of NamirDeiter.net. Because after four years, there's probably a lot of people curious as to what's inside.  I'm sure it's not the first bonus site, and it's probably not the biggest, but there's an awful lot there at the moment.

Sixthly, people keep asking us: "Isabel has drawn how many comics?". We've got a running total now. Currently it's 5713, or about 27 centiHolbrooks. Any larger and we'd have to get into Tezuka units.

I've been busy. For one thing, I've got a big pile of audiotapes that I'm trying to digitize. A good chunk of them are 4-track recordings of my band. I don't have a tape deck. The only ones I see for sale are either cheap things that eat tapes or $200 home stereo systems. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on speakers I'm not going to use, and some of these tapes can't be replaced (I really, really hope I've got another copy of The Modern Lizard Quartet - The Rough Mixes Years somewhere, or that I can splice it back together...).
Man, it makes me feel old to have a big pile of stuff that I can't use anymore because I can't find anything to play it on. Even the places I figured might sell them aren't in business anymore. So I think it's a pretty good metaphor. But seriously, if any of you know where I can get a decent tape deck for a decent price let me know.

Wallpapers are up - three of them each for Namir Deiter and You Say it First! There are also three more weeks of Unlike Minerva commentary.

Now, when last I spoke, I mentioned a subscription - here's how it works: Just $4 gets you into the concentrated awesomeness that is NamirDeiter.net. Unlike our usual, it's a recurring charge, $4/month, until you decide to cancel. Why? To celebrate NamirDeiter.net's fourth anniversary.

If you send us $10, you will get a free e-book of your choice from our extensive library. If you don't specify, you'll probably get Better than Valentine's Day, a double-sized Spare Parts book that I think more people should read.
